“Urban screens, media façades and media architectures are the keywords of what is generally defined as post-cinema. This represents a phase occuring when cinema is no more the centre of the media system rather it shifts into new screens, creating new experiences and new models of fruition.
A new digital system of information, communication, and entertainment.
Screencity – International Academic Journal on Media and Informational City is a platform and an international academic journal, as well as a research network exchanging and intersecting new technologies, new media and urban spaces. It promotes a multidisciplinary approach to media and informational cities.
Media-environment is a place where communication, information and performance meets. The digital technology changes our habits and the way of life of the urban space, transforming it in a media.
Screencity wants to be a thinking space, a repository of artistic and social experiences, and also a network for academies, research groups that deals with new technologies related to the contemporary metropolis.
Screencity provides a multidisciplinary scientific overview of existing resources and new technologies on the study and enhancement of the following areas of cultural and artistic production and technology. They are: new digital media, multimedia, information and digital technology, urban-screen, smart-city, architecture and media- architecture, architectural technology, design, digital production, requalification-regeneration and valorisation of historical and Cultural Heritage, green environment, Informational Architecture.
Media communication, new technologies and construction of city interaction, the environment and landscape are considered as fundamental issues for the life of contemporary societies . In addition to their technical and cultural interest , the new technologies for the built environment are important because they significantly contribute to the economy providing key attractions in a context where tourism and leisure are main important industries in the 3 rd millennium. Through new technology, the need to communication and interaction in real time, is thus not only a cultural requirement, but also an economical and developmental demand”.
